Canva Pro vs Freepik (Magnific): Which Design Tool Do You Need?
Short answer: Canva Pro is a design editor: you build social posts, presentations and ads from templates. Freepik, which rebranded as Magnific in April 2026, is mainly a stock and AI generation library: you download photos, vectors and icons, or generate images and video with AI. If you design every day, start with Canva. If you need lots of assets and AI generations, Freepik fits better.

Design and editing
Canva wins for speed. Drag-and-drop editing, brand kits, background remover and one-click resize let non-designers ship polished graphics in minutes. Freepik has an online editor too, but most of its assets are meant to be downloaded and edited in Photoshop, Illustrator or even Canva itself.
Stock assets
Freepik’s library is far larger, with vectors, PSD mockups and icons that designers use as building blocks. Canva Pro includes premium elements inside the editor, which is enough for most social and marketing work.
AI generation
Since the Magnific rebrand, Freepik plans include a yearly pool of credits for many image and video models. Canva Pro includes AI features through Magic Studio with a monthly allowance, which is fine for occasional use.
Price
Canva Pro costs $18 a month for one person, less on yearly billing. Freepik Premium costs $20 a month or $14.50 a month on yearly billing, and Premium+ adds more credits and music rights.
Which should you choose?
- Choose Canva Pro if you make social posts, presentations and ads yourself and want the fastest editor.
- Choose Freepik if you need a big stock library or lots of AI image and video generations.
